SCJA reg help required

Hi

Based on the replies and the reviews, i decided to go for the SCJA certification and as a matter of fact i have started my preparation too . But the recent talks , Sun to be bought by Oracle is disturbing me. Can somebody tell me if its still worth going for this.

There is no need to worry that Java is going to go away; it's simply too important and too big for the whole software industry, and Oracle is very pro-Java. With regard to certificates, there's also no need to worry. Maybe someday the certification will be renamed to "Oracle Certified Java Associate" instead of "Sun Certified Java Associate", but that doesn't change anything with regard to the value of the certificate.

Java isn't going away any time soon, regardless of whose name is on the Certification Certificate.

The associate certification will be around for a long time. Who knows, you might even be able to say you were one of the first to become an "Oracle Certified Java Associate", or maybe "One of the last ever Sun Certified Java Associates" before the name was changed to Oracle.

But again, Shakespeare said something about a rose by any other name smelling just as sweet. Regardless of the branding, an SCJA certification is a career building thing to have.
