If you find any I'd count your blessings(and ask to send anything remanding my way. ). I have been looking for such an arrangement for months now with no success. Many places I've found were interested in my skillset, but seem to still be clinging to the concept that developers need to be onsite to get work done. never the less I stay hopeful, and wish you luck.

Pretty hard to find freelancer kind of Java projects as normall they are quite big in term of money, manpower. You can try vertical search engine to broaden your chance. JobHits is a very good choice if you like Google-inspired interface. It is in my signature.

You can do some freelancer works like from rentacoder, but if your knowledge is only about JSPs and Servlets, it is pretty insufficient. You have to learn some more stuffs like Hibernate, Struts framework, and more...

Having a knowledge about EJB development would increase your chances.
