Hi. In general I am building j2ee web applications with spring framework and hibernate. Tomcat or Jboss for AS and Mysql for database.

I am planing to buy a 13" macbook pro has 4 gb ram core 2 duo 2.26 ghz but i am not sure even this specifications are enough, can macbook provide me a flexible development environment. Resolution is very important for me in code writing and i will by a LCD monitor too.

What is your opinion about macbook in software development?

Macs are wonderful development machines and the laptop you are suggesting is more than enough, actually it is powerful too.
IMHO, Macs have the best screens in the market, just check how much the colors are rich.
(BTW, I don't think developing with Spring/Hibernate is called JEE development )

Mac's make fantastic development machines.

John Todd had asked a similar question about a year ago: Experience on Mac OS X for JavaEE Development

The other question that usually pops up just after purchasing a Mac is, [what are] your top Mac apps

Ordinarily I would recommend a larger screen size - I went 17", and find that this is OK for development. However since you are getting an external monitor, maybe this is not an issue (I almost always have a 19" wide screen as my external monitor).

Just a couple of questions about screen size and resolution...

First off, I TOTALLY agree that the more pixels you can see at once, the better

So, I don't know much about the 13" Pro - I assume since it's a Pro that it can do desktop display - not just mirroring - I'd double check that.

Also, I'm always confused when people talk about screen resolution and then toss off the screen's physical size? Those two things are typically related of course, but isn't it more useful to discuss pixel counts?

Just curious...

Thanks for the advices guys. I think i am gonna by one

Hi Bert. As you said i was talking about the pixel counts. This mac has a resolution of 1200x800. Physical size is important too. Even a pc has a resolution of 1600x900 if it is 13", images and the writings will be seen very small. I mean only resolution is not enough.
