Absolutely everyone is in love with Java 7 and the language enhancements associated with Project Coin, and as you can imagine, people are interested in getting certified on the latest version of the JDK.

Here's a little article postulating about when the Java 7 versions of the OCPJP and OCAJP (Oracle Certified Associate Java Programmer) will become available. The predictions? Late March for OCAJP7, and mid-summer for OCPJP7.

And as I sing into the wind, updating my own thread, it's worth mentioning that the issue continues to be actively discussed on this other thread from the good old coderanch:

And seeing that I'm on the topic of OCPJP training and learning resources, I just thought I'd mention the third installment on the topic of try-with-resources:

Suppressed Exceptions and the OCPJP Use try-with-resources Objective

This is a pretty important part of both the OCPJP exam (Java SE 7 Programmer II, Exam Number 1Z1-804), and the OCPJP ugrade exam (Upgrade to Java SE 7 Programmer, Exam Number: 1Z0-805).

And, here's a couple of other tutorials that anyone interested in passing the OCPJP exam might be interested in.

New Java 7 Features: Using Binary Notation and Literal Variable Initialization
New Java 7 Features: A Tutorial on Numeric Underscores and Literals

Both of these tutorials were written with the goal of aiding anyone studying for the OCPJP 7 exam, especially the OCPJP Java 7 Upgrade Exam.

These tutorials hit on the first couple of objectives in the "Language Enhancements" category:

[ ] Use String in the switch statement
[ ] Use binary literals, numeric literals with underscores

Good luck on getting Java 7 certified!

Just wrote up a little mock exam question on the "Using Operators and Decision Constructs" objective from the OCP associate exam.

I've crosslinked it between JavaRanch and TSS.

Here's the article on TSS:

Tough little mock exam question on operator precedence and unary increments

Unary Increment OCP Java 7 Mock Exam Question Discussion

There's also a little reference to it here on TSS.

Here are a couple of little articles over at TSS that are worth reading. They come from the OCAJP Java 7 Certification Guide that will be out in March or April.

This isn't Wheel of Fortune: Vowels don't cost $500

Intricacies of safe and unsafe casting for the OCAJP7 exam

They're short, but they're sweet.

So, it looks like Oracle has finalized the specific details of the Oracle Certified Associate Java Programmer Exam (OCAJP: Exam 1Z0_803 ).

What does it look like:

Time of for Examination: 150 minutes
Number of Exam Questions: 90
Minimum Passing Score: 75%
Cost to sit the exam: $300 USD

Still, people who have already taken the exam are still waiting for an exam result. Beta exam test takers are still waiting to know their score, but if you sit the new exam, you'll get your score right away.

Some further discussion on the topic is here at the JavaRanch OCAJP forum.

So, the Oracle Certified Associate exam for Java 7 has finally gone live, but those who have written the beta still haven't received their marks. So, are we certified or what?

Cameron, thank you for the great Java 7 posts which are great. You're not singing into the wind as you feared earlier on.

It looks Java 7 has less features introduced:
