I was in China, seeing my daughter for the first time.
Today is what's called
Gotcha Day by many families with adopted children. Yes, there is some controversy over the name, but my family celebrates the hell out of today.
It's the day my wife and I "got" our daughter.
It's the day my daughter "got" her parents.
It's the day my family "got" some new friends - the family who traveled with us in China. We went 6700 miles and met a couple who lived 10 miles from our front door.
Tonight we will meet them again, stuff our faces with Chinese, Japanese, and American food, and reminisce on these past ten years.
