Hi,

I am working on JBos EAP 6.x and got the DEPLOYMENT error "Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ibm/db/beans/DBException at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredFields0(Native Method) [rt.jar:1.6.0_37]" (enable the ear file in Application Platform). Please see the detail error messages as follows. Should I fix something in some module.xml file?

I don't know where com.ibm.db.beans.DBException comes from, but it's not shipped with JBoss and not with Java. That means that you need to include the JAR file it's located in in your application.

Rob,

Thank you for your information.
Could you help give the instructions about "Service Module Loader" in JBoss EAP 6.x? The error messages show it is related to "Service Module Loader".

Thanks,
Sam

What you basically need to know is where JBoss can find its classes. You can read about it at https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/AS71/Class+Loading+in+AS7. In short:

* JSE and JEE classes are available without any effort, as are some others like Hibernate. See the automatic dependencies in the above link
* Any other class must either be provided by JBoss as a module, which needs to be activated in a jboss-deployment-structure.xml file, or by your application.

Now I know JBoss quite well, and it has no IBM module out-of-the-box. If you've added it as a module you may need to include the module in your jboss-deployment-structure.xml. Otherwise, you must include the JAR file in your EAR or WAR file.

Rob,

Is the "...\jboss-eap-6.x\modules\system\layers\base\ibm\jdk\main ..." only place for IBM part in JBoss EAP6.x?
Please the module.xml file in there.

-<module name="ibm.jdk" xmlns="urn:jboss:module:1.1">
<resources> </resources>
-<dependencies>
-<system export="true">
-<paths>
<path name="com/ibm"/>
<path name="com/ibm/jvm"/>
<path name="com/ibm/jvm/io"/>
<path name="com/ibm/jvm/util"/>
<path name="com/ibm/match"/>
<path name="com/ibm/misc"/>
<path name="com/ibm/net"/>
<path name="com/ibm/nio"/>
<path name="com/ibm/nio/ch"/>
<path name="com/ibm/security/auth"/>
<path name="com/ibm/security/bootstrap"/>
<path name="com/ibm/security/auth/module"/>
<path name="com/ibm/security/util"/>
</paths>
</system>
</dependencies>
</module>

Thanks,
Sam

I didn't know that module was there, but I've checked my local copy of JBoss EAP 6.4 and there's no class at all in any com.ibm package except for wsdl4j-1.6.3.redhat-1.jar, but that only includes package com.ibm.wsdl and some sub packages. There's no com.ibm.db package.
