Other than core java.
Are there mandatory areas of knowledge before diving into JMS and MQ?
Is it possible to jump straight to JMS and MQ from core java (SE)?
Thanks in advance.

As far as is my experience with JMS, there is no technical prerequisited knowledge to deal with it. And yes, you may use JMS and MQ with Java SE - no need for an applied server, but you may want to setup a message broker anyway.
