Hi,
I was just wondering if Perl and PerlScript are 2 totally different languages, just like Java and JavaScript are different. I often here folks refer to Perl programs as Perl scripts and don't know whether or not they mean is it PerlScript or it's a script written in Perl. Know what I mean?

many thanks,
Barry

No, hmm yes.
There is no such thing as PerlScript such as JavaScript. Yes a PerlScript is a script written in Perl.

Hi there,
My understanding of the difference between Perl and PerlScript is as follows:
1. Perl is the name of the scripting language fathered by Larry Wall.
2. PerlScript is an ActiveX scripting engine developed by ActiveState that allows you to use Perl in any ActiveX scripting engine such as:
Internet Information Server 3.0/4.0/5.0
Peer Web Services 3.0/4.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0x
Windows Scripting Host
There's lots of information about it available in the ActiveState download of Perl.
Cheers,
Darryl
