Hi Everybody,

I would like to do this SCEA certification. I've been trying to prepare for this exam for the past one year, but i couldn't. This year i definitely want to complete it.

I've nearly 7 years of experience , mainly in J2EE technology. But i do not know where to start and how to start for this exam.

Can anyone guide me how to prepare for this exam? Any tips for preparation?
Any useful links?
How many months of preparation is required generally to complete first part of this exam?
Where can i find the exam objective?

It would be really helpful for me if any one answers to my queries.

Thanks in advance
Babitha

i am in the same situation because I wanted to pass the exam last year but had to much other things to do. This year it has to be done...

We can exchange some tips and ideas by email if you want. My email

I will start by regarding the actual questions and answers every day to
get an impression of the diffrent topics of the certification.

Hi,

As per my knowledge you can start with

UML
Design Patterns
EJB 1.1

Once you finish above topics, you can buy SCEA preparation book like Paul Bambara or Cade's book or you can prepare rest of the topics through net and after that attempt (free) mock exam available over net.

Javaranch's recourses for SCEA exam are available at SCEA Links.

Hope it would be helpful.

If I am missing something pls. correct that.

Even good notes are avilable in this forum posted by few candidates after passing the exams. you can scan this forum to get those notes.

I am also preparing for the exam.
so far I read,
EJB - Head First EJB,etc (passed SCBCD)
UML - UML Distilled by Martin Fowler
somewhat security,messaging,etc.

Currently I am reading Head First Design Patterns & Cade's study guide.
I am also going through some other materials over net.
I am studying slowly whenever I get some time,so I am not studying regularly
like everyday. Once I feel I covered all the areas then I will book
for the exam and take mock exams.
At present,I am thinking to take the exam during next month Feb'05.
Let's see.

Thanks everybody for your ideas and suggestions.

As i noticed, major topic is EJB, UML, design patterns. I guess we have to first focus on these topics and move to next.

Where do we get materials for the rest of the topics ?
Will J2EE Architect book cover everything?

Thanks in advance

I found this link from the earlier post and it is very useful and lot of resources for the exam. After going through the link you will not ask how to do ... but probably you will say .. lets do it ..
