Hey guys,

Just two weeks ago I checked out the Sun website for my SCJA voucher and was quoted $100. But today I'm looking at the website (which seems to have been revamped a bit) and I'm seeing a $300 price tag???

Please tell me I'm simply on the wrong page here:

http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-019.xml

Thanks much,

Wow! That's quite a price hike.

It surprised me as well. I figured you were wrong, for sure, but I hunted around myself, and it sure looks that way.

I guess the price of oil has finally affected the price of a certification exam.

It appears price hikes for several certs have gone into effect.

Programmer's exam up to $300 from $200. Developer's exam up to $375 from $300?

Honestly, i think it's a mistake because in Brazil's Sun Site it's the same price, yet.

if someone confirms the price really changed i'll buy another voucher to me before they change on Brazil's site too.

In Ireland it was 210 then it went down to 100 for a few days now its back at 210 so Sun must be fidgeting about with their prices

Hey,

I think I know what your problem is. I guess you first went on the Sun website and saw thw price of $100. The second time you logged in it was the prometric site. The prometric site shows the price of SCJA as $300 but once you register on phone using your voucher number you get it for free(ofcourse you have to pay hundred for the voucher)

Yeah, in the past Prometric had a different price. But indeed, it is now the Sun Microsystems website that is reporting this new price.

Looks like almost all of the Sun exams have gone under a price revision.

Wow , The SCJP 6 has the same price too, The most shocking thing is the SCJD price which is $ 375. Is it for real? If it is, I'm lucky because I bought the SCJD project assignment in about 2 weeks ago. Is it because the gas price?

You could even sell your old voucher and make money...Just think of how much money we could have made scalping Sun Certification Vouchers. If only we had known!

Looks like the free retake offer has been extended - I got an email today with this:
http://uk.sun.com/training/savings/retake.xml?CID=e5575

For what it's worth, the current UK price for the SCJA is exactly the same as last year - 150 (excluding VAT). The SCWCD and SCJP are also 150.

Ouch! So much for sitting for the SCJA...

My career path is IT Project Management, I work at a company that has standardized on Microsoft, and there are no test centers convenient to me. The entire concept of pursuing the SCJA was of marginal relevance and interest to me before, but the price jump clinches it. Too many more valuable certifications to pursue...
