Hi,

I hope my question will not be completely out of the topic.
I tryed to buy this book... on Amazon they say that they are not sending to my country, on Barnes and Noble they couldn't validate my zipcode , and on O'Reilly the shipping costs are one and a half times more than the price of the book... So I give it a try here.

My question:

Are there other simpler ways to buy this book? (for people in some international countries like mine)

[added title of book to subject]

Laurentiu,
I'm asking my editor, she may be able to find out. If I can't give you an answer here, I recommend you head over to http://headfirstlabs.com and ask this on the HF book info forum

Distribution is tricky, because we (the publisher) aren't in control. We sell our books through sales channels, and then stores make them available according to all the laws of the land. I'm not sure about import laws and the like for Romania, but your best bet would be to ask your local book store to order the book; they can usually do that more easily than any other realistic option.

Or, you can wait for a translation, although that often takes a bit, and we have even _less_ control over that :-(

Hope that helps (at least a little)

Thank you Lynn, Brett,

I'd rather read the book in it's original English, at least everything is clear this way, translations are not always the best ones and they arrive late.
I will try to find it in a local bookstore, I hope I will find one that actually have it.
But first I have to ask you: is there available a PDF version of the books you wrote? This way would be faster and easier to get them...

Hello Laurentiu,
Read your question. There are a lot of online book libraries that carry soft copies of the book. I use www.safaribooksonline.com and they carry a soft copy of the HF SQL book. (You have to pay the subscription fees and become a member). This way you get access to thousands of books. They also have free trial periods for individuals, so you can try before you buy!

(I think for a price, you can also purchase the pdf versions of these books. Not sure of that, never tried that)

(Moderator, I am not trying to solicit any website here. If this post hints towards that, please let me know and I shall delete it)

Safari is an excellent suggestion!

I also just heard from my editor:

He/she can add the book to the UK cart on oreilly.com - then the postage
is a lot cheaper than from the US.

In Romania they could order the book from
Prior Book Distributors in Bucharest
Books Unlimited in Timisoara
SC Byblos SRL in Bucharest

If none of that works out, drop me a note at lynn@headfirstlabs.com, I have one other option for you.

Thanks again guys for your suggestions. I will look for the best solution that should be among them.
