Tomcat 7 java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener

Tomcat 7 is trying to load com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener at startup and giving below error, even we are NOT using faces in our project.

Are there any jar files in your application deployment which contain references to that class. For example in some jar's META-INF/services/javax.servlet.ServletContainerInitializer file?

I had same issue, once I checked my war file then I came to know that classes folder was empty. Actually I was using one phaseListener in my project ,it was configured into face-config.xml but its compiled class file was not.

I am facing the same problem but not able to figure out solution

output of this : jar -tf mywar.war

don't include the class.
