The week of Febrary 4th, we have a special treat. Manning is running a special promotion called the "Week of Scala". Over the course of the week, authors of some of these books will be stopping by in this forum. Which means you get not just one author, but many knowledgeable Scala folks! At the end of the week, we will draw four winners who get to pick any one of the books in this list as their prize. Manning will also be offering a discount code on these books that week. We will post the discount code in this forum when it is available.

Day 1: Scala in Depth, DSLs in Action
Day 2: Play for Scala, HTML5 in Action
Day 3: Akka in Action, Camel in Action
Day 4: Scala in Action, Single Page Web Applications
Day 5: Functional Programming in Scala, The Joy of Clojure
Day 6: Play for Java, The Responsive Web
Day 7: Scalatra in Action, The Well-Grounded Java Developer

great!

just scooped it: http://www.scoop.it/t/playframework/p/3995829075/week-of-scala-is-coming-scala-forum-at-javaranch

I'm looking forward to ask the pros about error handling in scala

exception don't seem to be pretty functional, but they are a very comfortable way to separate normal flow from exceptional behaviour...

So the Scala in Depth promo is out, and I've RT it. I wonder if Josh thinks Scala in Depth needs to be updated with Scala 2.10's new features -- or, perhaps, Scala 2.11, as they won't be experimental at that point anymore?

I think the books stands pretty well for Scala 2.10. However, I will be (trying) to release an updated version around the time 2.11 comes out. By then, there should be enough changes that I can alter certain portions of the book.

What is going on with the publication dates? They've been all over the place in the past month.
