I'm currently working on load balancing project. I need access to the file on another computer connected to mine over LAN so that I could balance the disk space of that computer. Is there any way possible to do this using java?

That other computer would have to be running some service that lets you access its files. Maybe Samba, maybe FTP, maybe something custom that you write. There are a lot of different ways to implement it, depending on your specfiic requirements. Just saying "load balancing" doesn't really convey much. Additionally, how you approach it depends on whether you're trying to do this for use in a real production environment, or just as an educational exercise.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
