Has anyone here tried to use healthcare.gov ?
It seems to me that the design violates every pattern in the book (at least thats the impression I get while using it). I looks good visually but from usage perspective, I was expecting it to be a lot better. It is has taken me hours and hours to populate all my data in there over past couple of days and I am still not done. Specially the income section. I am just not able to get it right

(BTW, this post has nothing to do with pros/cons of ACA and I don't intend to start any debate on that.).

I'd love to have more info about who is responsible for architecture, design, and implementation, and some technical info about what's there. The enormous scalability fail will make an excellent textbook discussion some day.

By now a topic even for the Economist, which is not generally concerned about particular web sites: http://www.economist.com/news/united-states/21587816-signing-up-obamacare-still-ridiculously-hard-obamacare-software-mess

The NY Times reports that CGI GRoup and Booz-Allen-Hamilton were the prime contractors. For about 20 years, I worked at AMS, a big consulting company that was sold to CGI Group in the early 2000s. A large portion of the AMS staff went to Booz-Allen. From the Times article, the HHS folks who were in charge had no experience with large scale systems-integration efforts, and were changing the specs well into this summer.

Jacob Nielsen wrote about 10 usability problems with that website. It's a good list.
