Malformed URL question

I have a local .html file to parse.
But there are some parenthesis around the path of the files.
Like

So Java complains about malformed URLs,
I tried

to no avail
Any ideas?

That's a file path, not a URL.

Are you sure your problem is the parentheses? "C" isn't a valid protocol (whereas, for example, "http" is a valid protocol).

Please post the error message you're getting. The problem may simply be that you are offering a file path to a constructor that expects something else.

The File class has toURI and toURL methods which can be combined to produce a URL for the file path; check the API documentation for details.
