Today i had a discussion(argument) with my manager, he strongly saying .NET is faster than java?
As per my knowledge both are implemented using C and C++ then how come .NET is faster than JAVA?
is .NET is really faster? As a big fan of java i can't digest this.
I think the differences in speed tests are not comparable to the differences in coding. That is, you can write slow programs in either language. I think they both execute the code at about the same speed.
All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable.
Unless you have some documented reason why such almost insignificant performance improvements would make a difference, I would say there are plenty of other reasons to choose one over another.
Seriously...saving a few milliseconds here and there usually don't ever add up to anything noticeable - especially when there will most likely be plenty of other things having a much larger impact. File or disk IO, or user input, or network communication...etc.
There are only two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors
