Override the default row delimiter in mapper

I am trying to use ^A as row delimiter by setting it in a configuration file like below

<?xml version="1.1"?> <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="configuration.xsl"?> <configuration> <property> <name>textinputformat.record.delimiter</name> <value>\u0001</value> </property> </configuration>

But its not taking ^A as row delimiter(its not taking any control characters), however if i specify other characters like "|" its taking it as row delimiter?

Who is not taking? Where are you putting ^A ?

The mapper is not taking CTRL characters as row delimiters.
