Why "Unhandled exception type Exception" in this code?

I run this code but a compilation error occurs. I think the problem is from SuperClass sb = new SubClass(). But still get confused about it...

class SuperClass {
	public void doIt(String str) throws Exception {
		String signature = "super";
		System.out.println(str + " " + signature);
	}
}
public class SubClass extends SuperClass {
	public void doIt(String str) {
		String signature = "sub";
		System.out.println(str + " " + signature);
	}
	public static void main(String... args) {
		SuperClass sb = new SubClass();
		sb.doIt("hello");
	}
}
