Making the jump to Gutsy Gibbon any time soon?
I'll probably update the VM's I use at work since they make good test platforms (and are easy to roll back if there's a problem).
It looks like my favorite bug is still not fixed, so I don't have a reason to upgrade the home machine yet.

I'm going to wait for all the hype to suffice and a few updates to come out. I'm happy with what I have now and I don't care about the eye candy.

You do realize the beauty of linux is choices. You don't have to use k3b.

I have been running Gutsy since the beta release a few weeks ago on my new Dell XPS M1330 and it works great.

Oh, I've tried other apps. Same result.
75295 seems to indicate that there is a problem with the way the kernel polls the drives. This computer worked fine with Edgy and I tried swapped drives with a serviceable Windows box. The Windows box works fine with either drive, so I burn with Windows for now.

No problems using K3B for anything in openSuSE.

It doesn't have all the hype that Ubuntu has but is miles ahead of that clunky distro.

Give it a try!

I just upgraded my Ubuntu to Gutsy the first day it was released. The upgrade went very smooth. There are still some minor glitches in the new 3D desktop and also for some other stuff. But so far, it's been a pretty good release in my opinion and it's worth upgrading it. Give it a shot!

I did a fresh install this afternoon. Wireless was a pain this time when it wasn't in 7.04. Seems to be a bit snappier (Gnome) but aside from that I haven't noticed many changes. I don't use the eye candy.

I got Xubuntu 6.06 (LTS) running fine.
I don't see a reason for upgrade.

I've used openSUSE for some VM's I use for managing my Solaris servers. I'd be hard pressed to say anything bad about it. However, I have a lot of "sweat equity" in my Ubuntu desktop, so I don't think I'm wiping it any time soon.

For me, release 7.10 this is the first Ubuntu release with which everything works out-of-the-box. Even the webcam on my M1330 works.

No problem with wireless, and my laptop contains the new Intel 4965 AGN adapter. The draft-N speed (upto 300 Mbit/s) isn't supported yet (I have a wireless N router) but it works perfectly with the G-speed (54 Mbit/s, which is still 9 times faster than my Internet connection, so I don't really need a faster speed).

The last two weeks I've been playing around and writing small programs in Java, Ruby and C on my new laptop. Linux is such a nice OS for software development, I like it much more than Windows for this.
