Many of my setups require a huge Hard disk and that too .. need to be scraped repeatedly Sometimes Installations that span 90GB deployments.
Keeping in view the huge techstacks running , I have upgraded the Memory to 2GB instead of 512 that it comes with. CPU is dual core that is 5 times faster i guess should not become a bottleneck.
Now what you thinking about this plan...
I am thinking of getting a 100GB+ (say300GB)external drive attach it with Apple using firewire. and keep my entire OS (which can be Linux/Suse etc)and the 90GB install on it fully working (Fully working as in the external device has the Oracle DB installed, AppServer installed and a few other things ).
Thinking from point of view of the external hard disk there will be a lot of I/O happening.
1) Will mac firewire be able to handle such a load?
(Firewire was a key thing for Data transfer) when i boot from that device my whole setup should be available.
2)Does anyone see any fundamental mistake in my thinking about the external hard disk
3)Has anyone tried this before.
Thanks
