Happy 50th to me!

As I had hoped/suspected, my mystery birthday gift was an iPod Touch!

Playtime begins!

Congratulations! I am officially jealous. Let us know what you think after you've had a chance to play with it.

So far it's great! Ultra-intuitive and, as I had found when I played briefly with an iPhone, the virutal keyboard is amaziingly accurate, even for a fumbling fat-fingered typist such as myself.

Synching with iTunes, iPhoto, contacts, calendar and bookmarks is a snap.

The only thing I haven't been able to try yet is the WiFi browsing. Stay tuned..

Hey, is there anyway to plug in a headset? Could you maybe... Skype with that thing?

No mic input. But that would be sweet, wouldn't it?

Lucky you, congrats!

Hmmm. Wifi and iTunes... can you update iTunes podcasts without hooking up the ipod to your computer?

Enjoy your new toy.

Hmmm, not sure as I've never loaded a podcast in my life. But I suspect you'd need to sync it from iTunes. Sorry to be so imprecise.

I'm constantly amazed at how lickably clear, sharp and sexy the display is.

Geez... Rub it in!

I so need one of these. (It's either going to be this or an iPhone, if I could just resolve my indecision.)

I could be really mean and post some hi-res pictures!

If there was a reasonable monthly plan for someone who isn't going to be talking/surfing 24 hours a day, I'd have opted for an iPhone. But the monthly fee is way too rich for my blood for what I need from a mobile phone.

Wow - very, very jealous!!

Hey Bear, you said you made your post with your new toy? So you can't make phone calls but you have an internet connection...how did I miss that? Can you clarify the whole internet end of this baby?

It has WiFi capability and built-in Safari.

Obviously it can't surf using EDGE, not being a phone, but as long as there's an open WiFi network (or one you know the credentials to), surfing's a breeze.

I didn't say that I indulged in those urges....

Seriously, the display is simply amazing in clarity and color.

Oh, and hitting gmail with the browser displays an interface catering to the screen size. Way to go google!

Kathy just got one of these so-called iPod touch thingies - wow! We watched movies on it on the plane, (it drove both of our headphones thru a splitter with no problem). Right now she's got it glued to her hand and she's "surfing". Great battery life, amazingly quick synching, awesome display, and the surfing "appears" to be fun too (I wouldn't know because I can't seem to pry the thing away from her.)

the touch is amazing! I posted this on it.

I jailbroke mine to allow third party applications to be installed, it's a very good piece of kit.
