Opening a new Non Child Window

I have a specific requirement where I hava to open a new Window on a click of a button,but the catch is that I cannot use the ususl javascript window.open() because it return the new window as the child to the parent window.I would like to open the new new window as an individual window as we do by opening a fresh window.Is it really possible??Does anybody as any idea how to achieve this??can igenerate some event simalar ti ctrl+n??

You can try a basic link with target="_new", not sure if there is a relationship there.

You may be able to do a window.open() and refresh the parent window, and it might loose the relationship to the parent, but there is nothing you can do.

Only two things I can think of after just waking up.

Thanks,Eric..I believe this will lead me to some kind of solution or at least a new dimention in thinking about the solution.

I havent tested it, but you should be able to set the opener property of the window to null.
myWin = window.open(..);
myWin.opener = null;

If that's what you were after...
