Compare RUP vs Agile Methodologies

Folks,

Used RUP for several projects..now been reading Agile proces. What is the fundamental diffence/s between the two?

i think comparing RUP, agile process is not the best way to look at SDLC process.

Fundamentally a SDLC activity can performed as Plan driven or risk driven or agile.

Incase of RUP it incorporates all 3 of the SDLC activities if you look at mile stones of RUP they are risk driven, and some activities are agile.

RUP is a frame work.

XP - many commonly associated with agile process has some of risk driven activities too.

Indeed, RUP is a process framework. The kind of process instance you get out of it is entirely dependent on how you pick'n'choose from what IBM/Rational has included into the framework. In fact, I'd call it a process buffet instead of a process framework.
