I am happy to tell you guys I passed the SJPC exam yesterday
Did not get a great score but I am glad I am done with it now & can move forward.
I felt the exam was tuff. I had nearly 15 questions on threads(very very tricky) , around 10 questions from awt , around 10 questions from IO..Lot of questions about method return types & constructors. Most of the thread questions had code exhibits of around 30 - 35 lines.
I guess I was really unlucky to get such a tuff paper. But I feel proud I passed it.
Guys who are still preparing .. Read threads,IO & AWT well.
Thanks to everybody on this forum for answering my questions. I will hang around & answer questions as & when I can.
Thanks & Happy Holidays
Roopa.

Thanks Valentin. What do you think is the next best certification to prepare for?
I was planning on preparing for the Web component developer certification..

Yeah I think it's good idea. If you are thinking in the long-term I'd go for SCJD. In my case I'm preparing for both but it depends on the time you have and what you expect from being certified

Viki,
I am sorry I scared you. From what I have heard the exam is usually a good mix of questions. I was really the unlucky one to get this set of questions.. The first few questions were all fundamental & then started the questions on threads.. I felt it was never ending..it went on & on . Initially I panicked a little when I saw the around 30 lines of code exibits with threads & inner classes..but I kept telling myself that I have to be relaxed & try passing the exam.
Viki the key is to be relaxed & think cooly. Thats what I just did yesterday & I made it.
Here are some tips for you..
-- Focus on threads, IO & AWT classes.
-- Read & understand well the concept of locks & synchronising
-- IO - make sure you are familiar with constructors & return types
-- Remember the methods well in Math class.
You should be all set if you are comfortable with the above topics.
Good luck & don't worry you will do fine.
Roopa.

Congrats!
It seems that the tests are quite different. I only had 7 questions on Threads and maybe 7-8 on IO and 4 on awt!
And compare to JQPlus there where not that diffucult. I only missed one on the threads and scored 100% on IO and awt (to my big suprise)

Roopa,
good point! A difference betweeen the mockups and the real exam is that all questions about, let's say, Threads, IO, awt, are grouped together.
If you don't know it you can panic. My test started with axt and then threads. I thought it wouldn't end!
But id you know it, stay cool!

Roopa,
Congrats !!! so now u are Sun Certified Java Programmer. I just managed to pass the exam , my score was 61% . It seems u and I got the same questions. Even I was a bit tensed when i saw code which was more that a screen and to scroll down to read it fully .
But i want say thank you for a long time , because we both were preparing at the same time and u used to ask lot of questions in the forum which even i had doubt.
Cheers :-)

Sounds like the exam I was given. Took the exam about two weeks back. Could not believe the difficulty level. I didn't encounter this level of difficulty in any of the Mock's - JQ+ or free ones - or any questions within Mughal. I had a load of Threads and I/O and the simple concepts where often wrapped in a threading or more difficult concept. Congradulations though. Passing is all that counts.
