Are things from the JSTL considered "custom tags"? I didn't include item "D" in my answer because, shoot, if I downloaded it from java.sun.com, how "custom" could it be? OTOH, I can see that it's not a "standard action" (i.e. <jsp:...).

I believe that, technically, they are custom tags. They just happen to be a bunch of extremely useful ones that ought to have been made 'standard', but aren't. So you can prefix them with anything you like, but if you decide to use anything other than 'c', your co-workers will be silently (or not-so-silently) cursing you.

Hi Dale,

Strictly speaking, JSTL are not considered part of the standard actions. There're only a handful of them, <jsp:xxx>.

JSTL are considered as custom tags.
