Hi All,
Finally after 2 months of preparation I cleared the exam with a score of 76%. I know its not a big score. But even then I am really happy about it. When I had started with the prepaation I had absolutely no knowledge in JSP, Servlets. I was really scared to take up the exam. But then I was determined to clear the exam so that I can further shift to a project where I can utilize the skills. The current project in which am working is based only on core java. So there was no scope of J2EE. I was not permitted to install Tomcat in my PC , as a result of which I could not practically test the programs.
When I started up, I became a member of Javaranch. From where I got the tips to start with the preparation. I started with HFSJ,went through it thrice. Prepared my own notes in the process, that really helped.
-Fredrick Esnault 's notes.
-Chapter wise mock exams from j2eecertificate.com(very hepful)
-Mock exam exams of javaranch.
-ofcourse the exams after each chapter in HFSJ

And Finally, the Final Coffee Cram---The exam score+20% rule worked for me also:-)

I am really thankful to Kathy, Bert and Bryan...for writing such a beautiful and brain friendly book, which helps candidates like me , who have no knowledge about JSP & Servlets to start from scratch. You guys are great !!

There were many Qs from Design Patterns.HFSJ is enough. Sevlet Qs were a bit tough.Quite a no. of questions from Custom Tag. Hardly any qs from JSTL.There were many simple qs on EL.And rest all qs were evenly from all the other objectives.Perhaps only 1-2 qs from Filters.

Thanks to Javaranch, all the members of it who are preparing for the exam , and who have already cleared the exam. Its bcoz of all tips and interactions of you all that I could preapre for the exam.

Thanks to yiu all once again....
Swati.

Hi,

Thank you all so much for your wishes.....
Next I may be appearing the SCBCD exam. But before that I would like to gain some work experience in Web Components. As I have told , I dont have any work experience.I only studied and gave the exam, I badly need to utilize the skills I have gained by implementing them through related projects. And only after that I will think of the next certification exam.

Thanks and warm regards,
Swati.

Hi,
For me it took on an average 8 hours daily, if you manage to study in the office. Otherwise if its difficult to find out time in office. Then I used to start in the evenening and study late in the night. Tried to make most out of the weekends.I felt hard to study for hours together at a stretch. Since the concepts were new to me, needed breaks during study, by watching tv, or surfing, or changing your location of study(wen you are at home).
I missed the practice thing ie., running the programs practically, that was my loop hole. Do try out to solve problems practically, that makes you a fast learner.

All the best to all SCWCD aspirants,
Thanks and regards,
Swati

Hi Bert,
I am so glad and really honoured to get a reply from you.
Your book is a real guide to many of us who have started from the very beginning.I cleared my SCJP exam by studying the book written by you guys and this time, SCWCD by studying Head First.
Thanks to you all once again...
Warm Regards,
Swati Sucharita.

Congrats!!!

It was really nice to read about your score with so less experience. I am also preparing for the same certification and i think that the authors of HFJS have done a GREAT job!!..

Roshani
