As for to really know which is best. Its still early days.[/B]
Even the company can be a Microsoft shop - having a lot of Microsoft qualified engineers, this does not make new things easy for these engineers.
To me for software development these are the categories:
* Quick and small applications - Visual Basic
* Enterprise application -
Java,
J2EE and CORBA
* Real-time or performance applications - C++
* Web application (small) - ASP
* Web application (enterprise - eCommerce) - J2EE
* etc...
Which market .NET would like to capture. Of course the enterprise market where Microsoft is quite new.
