When I am able to run java applications on epoc O/S using JNI, why again do I need to use midlets. What is the difference between the AWTServer in epoc and GUI used in MIDP?

If the devices you're targeting all run PersonalJava or J2SE, there's no need to use MIDlets. You only need to use MIDlets if you're targeting devices that can only run MIDP applications, i.e. that don't have the horsepower to run PersonalJava (which, while smaller than J2SE, is still a lot bigger than MIDP). The MIDP user interface model is completely different from AWT.

Thanks for ur support.
But I am still little confused.Basically in epoc we have both C++ and Java versions.i.e I am able to run normal(J2SE) Java application on my epoc device.now, what are the advantages of midlets so that I prefer them.
If I am using Nokia9210 which supports java, do I need to use only midlets or normal J2SE Java application. If both which is preferable and Why?
Looking forward...
