hi friends,
How is Khalid Mughals' book for scjp 5.0 preparation?
Is it necessary that I should practice programming with the examples in the book?

Khalid Mughal is good book , with all the core concepts explained in details !
But I doubt , there is no edition of Khalid Mughal`s book for SCJP 5.0 , I found it for 1.4 exam .

and ofcourse, SCJP required lots of code practice.
and see the SCJP FAQ`s for start .

There is no version for the 1.5 exam. However the 1.4 is an excellent book that goes into more depth than most exam books.

I am not aware of a book updated for SCJP 1.5

You should try the SCJP 5 study guide by kathy sierra and Bert bates

But, Is K&B simple to understand?
How depth does it go with the concepts and examples?

K&B is simple to understand but it should be used as a first timer
because book is exam specific and skips lots of concept(but clkarifies a hell lot more) and writers themselves suggest that the book should be used with some previous java knowledge , if you do coding that would count,

but for exam perspective it is best book available, and more informative than any other java source I found
