How's job market for Java in California? Is it improving?
Thanks,
Angela

In CA, it is very-very bad. There are layoffs everywhere and people with lots (3+ years) of Java experience are not getting jobs. Other states are relatively better off because there were not that many people in the first place even during the boom time like in the Bay area/Silicon Valley.
Thanks.

Do you think so it will come up again in near future in CA?
Thanks,
Angela

We all hope the good old days will again come back.. some day. Some say 2003 will be better as companies will start hiring. Who knows what'll happen in the future ? Once there is some kind of war, everything may fall apart.
But in case someone is trying to relocate to US, my advise will be to look for jobs in the other states, or at least outside the bay-area.

What will 2003 mean to Java developers?
More jobs?

Yes...for offshore companies in India. Here in the US, its probably going to remain flat or maybe a small uptick at best.

I wonder why it hits the JAVA Developers in first place.
I do not hear that MS Developers are on the street. There are absolutely no offers of job to Java developers while offers to MS Developers still appear.
Tell me where I am wrong because I started defecting to MS.

The situation will come up slightly but will never return to the boom of the past.
Since there were overproduction of IT specialists (and graduates continue to be produced according to demands of the past), it sounds that the RELATIVELY bad situation will continue for IT specialists (but not for industry)
By this reasoning, it is a good bet that job opportunities should arise first of all in previous "IT deserts"
