So how real is the Boom in India??

I hear about it everyday and was wondering if its for real or just the media going overboard just like they do with everything else over here. I've seen both the boom and the bust here in the US and right now companies are exteremely selective. Interviews are a whole day fun fest. Is it better in India? Are the jobs exteremely competetive. How bad is it to get an interview (to make this post a little personal I am interested in Java jobs with 3-4 years experience).

I've been also wondering how the job market is over there. It must be great, since lots of companies are moving over there.
I was reading an article today; they were saying that around 2 million indians graduate every year from university, they all qualified and with a perfect english..
Since we have so many indians around here, is it really true all that? are job postings everywhere (java related)?

Atleast the Aussie's are aware of their priorities when it comes to protesting.
Here in the States I am surprised to see that many people think reducing/removing the H-1B program is a bigger issue than offshoring/bestshoring.
The way I see it is first make the jobs stay in this country and then try getting those jobs. The more the pressure on H-1 programs, the more the offshoring...coz companies have found a way to save $$$ and they would do it...if not Plan A (H-1B) then Plan B(BestShoring).
So ya....coming to the topic I am pretty sure the boom is real and there to stay for quite sometime.

Job situation is definitely better than 1/2 years ago.Still companies are selective and cautious before hiring anybody as this situation may not last long.Mainly the mid size American offshore companies who are right now into market are giving competition to CMM 4-5 level Indian companies.Programmers with two years experience in C++,Java/embedded are earning Rs 25,000 p/m ,not a bad salary.Its almost what the civil engineer with 10 years experience in Goverment job gets.!!

But i think Accenture in particular has gone beserk. Guess they want to do what infosys has been doing here for years, in a couple of months.
I wonder what the quality w'd be :roll: the rate @ which they are amassing people.

I mean infy took so long to grow to some 20,000 odd employees right now.
The way Accenture is recuriting here @ the moment , looks like they w'd make those numbers within a year / 2.

I read somewhere that Accenture is recruiting not just the Softaware guys, but MBAs and other streams as well. Considering Accenture's international reputaion and the salary that they can offer, I would guess they probably would attract the right sort of people. But only time can tell..!

I hear figures ranging from 30 to 70K Rupees per month for people with 4-5 years experience. Which is more close to real, 30K or 70K?

will put it somewhere in between 50-60K/month in well paying MNCs.
Now this is before tax!. A considerable part of the salary goes off in tax. So the numbers c'd be very deceptive.
