If we want to convert EJB's from weblogic 4.5 to 5.1
then is it necessary to use DDConvertor utility
to do it
as we all know that this utility is error-prone and thats
why it has been removed in weblogic 6.0
can any one suggest me a foolproof way to do it (conversion of EJB from
weblogic 4.5 to 5.1)

We had to re-write them by hand (only safe way).

Why don't you move to Web Logic6.1
It has cool features like the message driven beans etc and you do not need to go through 2 migration cycles in near term.
I particularly mentioned message driven beans 'cause the world will be moving towards asynchronous service activation etc very soon.

In Weblogic 4.5 deployment descriptor file has a .ser extension

then how can we convert
.ser files into text files?
