Hi,

Under the J2EE environment, is it possible for us to create something
like an observer for the JVM process?

What I intend to do is to send out some notifications if the JVM would ever
crash, especially in the production environment.

Currently, what I have in mind is just a java process which would check
the existance of the JVM process on a scheduled intervals.

Is there a better way to do so?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

James,
Take a look at JMX (Java Management Extensions.) It is designed for monitoring.

You could probably get away with a cron job. I don't know enough about JMX to know the advantages.
