hi
can we archive all the sevlets into a jar file and keep it in the web-inf directory instead of
placing all the classes.

The servlet API describes all the rules that cover this sort of question - you should download a copy from java.sun.com
The answer is yes, classes in a jar file in the
yourapplication/WEB-INF/lib
directory will be picked up just like the individual class files in
yourapplication/WEB-INF/classes
directory would. It does have to be type ".jar" - ".zip" will not work.
