how would i have a static ip for my dynamic one? would i use a redirect?

Wow -- well, people don't really try to run web servers on boxes with dynamic IPs, for the obvious reason that it changes. What exactly are you asking here?

You can use a service that gives you a static DNS for your dynamic IP.
Try DYNDNS.COM
There are many more services just like this one...

I use http://www.zoneedit.com for all of my (6) domains hosted on my cable modem with a dynamic IP
