Hi,
I don't have experience working with firewalls and am fairly new to web programming. I am building an application in which an
applet communicates with a
servlet by way of serialized data transfer objects (beans). So far I am
testing on my local box and have yet to post the application to the web.
Do I need to tunnel through a firewall with my Applet? Or can I send the serialized objects to the servlet url straight away without any hassles? My encoding, by the way, is UTF-8 in case that makes any difference to a firewall.
Thanks in advance,
Ben Weaver
