"I like everyone here" will not do it. You need to tell whom do you like more.

Kidding.
Funny, the same time this thread was started (thank you, Sameer Jamal ) I came across Amazon "favorite people" and "friends" thing and thought that we could have it here. "Your JavaRanch favorite people" or "JavaRanch friends". I am not sure why do we need it, though
One phenomenon I noticed is that our preferences are not distributed evenly, they are grouped into clusters. If you need to figure out which books are worth to read, find a person you like and chances are he/she you will like the same books. I like Ted Neward's deep way of thinking and when I looked at which XML books he mentioned in reference list, gee, they were two books I myself would prefer among all other.
For not to go too far from JavaRanch, my favorite person here is Frank Carver. It's funny to watch how we like the same books and even the same software! Naturally, his reviews in bunkhouse have more weight for me. Not because he is "better" than other bartenders and sheriffs (although... hm...), because we probably have similar views, I do not know. It doesn't mean that I do not love Thomas Paul and Michael Ernest , they are damn , but their way of thinking is different from mine and I know they like different books, so I would not rely on their recommendations too much. Not because they are "worse" or not competent, nothing like this, just different.
One feature I would really like to see in the next version of our bunkhouse is "my favorite books" lists for all main contributors.

BTW, Jason Menard, hands down. His sense of humor kills me. I have <big><big>never</big></big> found anyone funnier in writing, and I think funny is hard to do in writing!

Michael Ernest gets my vote for sure. I don't log on as often as some of the other "regulars" here but I have always found Michaels post witty, to the point and very very intelligent. He never ceases to amaze me with how much he knows about a lot of things (just like Grandpa...no offense michael).
But in reality he's probably the short, fat and bald guy from the circuit city commercial and cuts and pastes from MS Encarta all the time :-)

You mean "not at all bald"? Because we all know that Michael is bad.

I cannot remember a case when a female Java™ programmer would say she doesn't like Thomas Paul.

I did not want to publish my list of favorite ranchers, because it is so long that it is almost indecent. Plus some of these people change names so often, that it would be better to refer to them by IPs, if they did not spoof IPs as well  But if we started to call names anyway... All those my favorite people are nice, cute and funny. (Except for those who are nasty, mischievous and inventive in worst sense.) There is only one person who is really dangerous for me and who can keep me and my types under control. I am talking about Jim Yingst.

Check out http://www.javaranch.com/emb.jpg
This particular sample was done on a t-shirt and I think the actual shirts turned out much better (no gaps between the threads due to strechiness).
The shirts are denim or twill. I think there are some still available. About 20 shirts of different sizes and styles. To get the full details, send an e-mail to brendawheaton@yahoo.com

My No. 1 favorite: Paul Wheaton. Without him, we won't be here. (I mean, we could be at this web address, but that could be a totally different time and different application.)
