could anyone tell me the difference between

this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(filename );
and
this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(filename);

Hmmm... I've only seen the second one used. Can't getClassLoader() return null to represent the bootstrap loader?

From the API for Class.getReourceAsStream():

This method delegates to this object's class loader.

... oh and yes, it does also specify the behaviour for the bootstrap class loader.

I hear some dim voices in the back of my brain that one uses classnames relative to the current class, the other uses absolutes. Have you tried both? With the very same classname string?
