I saw a good Hindi movie recently, but don't know whether it is a latest movie or not.
The movie is Raja Harishchandra by Dadasaheb Phalke

In Russia, they say, "There are good movies, bad movies, and Hindi movies."

You might want to check out a couple of Tamil films before putting them in that order! Lately, Tamil films seem to excel in other areas of entertaining viewers, like excellent cinematography, music, enjoyably unconventional story and situation, relatively realistic characters and a bunch of gifted actors etc.
Well, I agree, you can generally classify them all to one group - a group where poor hero and his poor partner drives Mercs’ and dances around Swiss Alps or in NZ the next moment after setting eyes on each other - in their dreams of course! Don’t they have anything else to dream about, FFS!!

Tamil movies rock!
Saw "Khakee" last week. Wasn't too impressed. Guess the director just slept thru the second half of the movie.
The last good Hindi movie I saw was "Dil Chahta Hai".

I hate south indian movies with the exception of a few made by directors like vishwanath and actors like kamal hasan (he is awesome!). I shouldn't really express my opinion because I only watch old movies from 60's and 70's I suppose. I just liked hindi ones back when I lived in India (14 years ago). Haven't seen one since then.

Is it, but I heard many people couldn't sit through the entire movie, ie 4 hrs.And being a patriotic film,it should have been played on republic day but it was not running in any theatre in some cities.

So in Russian language does "Hindi" means "Intermediate" or "Average" ?

I couldn't hear any dialogues (the audio track was not functioning I guess). The titles were in Hindi, so I thought that it is a Hindi movie
Well, what about Alam Ara?

Alam Ara is the first talking movie in Hindi (& in India)
Raja Harishchandra is the first movie produced in India.

Saw last week. It is SUPERB.
Acting (Not only that of Kamal, everyone), Music, Photography, Art direction, Screen play - it excels in everything. Certainly a mile stone in Tamil movie history. Don't miss it.
Only thing I didn't like in that movie is the violence.

4 hours is little bit long (director said he cut half an hour or so movie from the original). I didn't see the movie but lots of my friends recommanded it. I will wait for movie to come in DVD with subtitle .

Movie is serious and OK types, but performances are very very good!!
Tabu is fine as usual, but Pankaj Kapoor is amazing, excellent, awesome!!!
This man is grossly underused and underrated. I remember his "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" with Shabana Azmi and he was too good!!!

Watch "Pinjar" if you haven't, much much much better and sensible as compared to loud stuff like "Gadar". Manoj Bajpeyi shows amazing display of underplay, he conveyes so much through his eyes and intensity without saying much. Very well directed and present as well.

watched Tum and Kismat.
in single word: Dont watch, we left one movie before interval and another after interval.
I think again I have to begin watching chosen ones only. Cant spend Rs.90/- on waste of time, better to go to Park Plaza and sip chilled beer.

A regional movie that I really want to watch is Anahat. It has a great story line and stars Sonali Bendre - one of my favourites.
