I have real boring routine. I can make an algorithm for my daily routine.

Step1. Get up at 7am.
Step2. Get ready by 8 am.
Step3. Leave by 8:15 am.
Step4. Reach work by 9am.
Check Meanigless Drivel.
Step5. Have lunch in the CRAPeteria at 11:30.
Step6. Come back to desk at 12:30.
Check Meanigless Drivel.
Step7. Work till 5pm
Keep Checking Meanigless Drivel.
Step8. Reach home by 6pm,Watch TV, have dinner, surf the net, go to sleep by 11pm.

Step 9. Add one day and repeat step 1.

Weekends:
Step1. Skip to Step5 of weekday: Replace crapeteria with home cooked meal.
Step2. Watch TV, have dinner, surf the net, go to sleep at 1am.
Step3. Add one day and repeat step1.

and they say "Life is beautiful"???

Please share your algos.

Absolutely right.....Exactly the same...makes me wonder sometimes before i go to sleep...."Is this what life means....I am sure there must be more to it than this...Am I going nuts..." and then you start talking to yourself.

In fact even all this self talk becomes monotonous.

I think this might be your first job after college, life really takes a big turn after exciting college life where we even dont find 24 hours sufficient.

No woman could post her daily algorithm here - the amount of space required would bring the servers to a screeching halt!

Well, I have the same problem, and see only 2 ways out of this misery:

1. Get even more daily routine so that I don't have any time to think how routine my life is. Most of the people I know are so busy with their 7 kids, 5 pets, and 10 credit cards, that they don't have a minute during the day to think how meaningless their life is. They even think that those 22 items are the meaning of life.

2. Get rid of all routine completely. Dump the kids to orphanage, euthanize the pets, quit the job, divorce, move to another country, change the name. This requires a lot of guts and is certainly a more risky proposition, but it'll definitely kill the routine.

One good way to break your routine is to make a commitment to someone else, say volunteer somewhere for the benefit of strangers.

Or give yourself a tough challenge: Learn to play trombone well enough to stand on the corner and collect coins in your hat.

Just marry to a woman who is software engineer.
You will see a definate routine change everyday.

And in more serious note..I think these things are due to lack of motivation and / or goal ,aim in life.

Just decide something to do(like to be expert in java j2ee and related technologies),and see how it changes your routine.

And most important thing..dump that idiot box. (You can start with throwing your remote out)
Don't waste your time in such useless thing called as a TV.
It won't take you anywhere. It will just help you become passive.

Read all magazines related to business and money.
Read economy related publications.
Think about how those men and women out there who got millions and billions thru' sheer hardwork.
Are you going to lead your life just like a middle class person who thinks about self and family only?
Aim higher buddy.
Go reach the sky.Do something worthy in life.
If not anything, make money to the extent that you are treated as not only rich but wealthy.
All the best !!

It all depends..if uou start picking penny stock you will soon only have pennies...

Do good annalysis and then if u go for good buys or shorts ...u will make good money..

for example today I bought 200 shares of sbi at 880 and exited at 898...made 3600 in a day...Put strict stop loss even if entire market crashes you will be saved...

Glad to see that the applications we developed at (then) CMC (Stop Loss orders) way back in 97-98 are still useful.. it was major development in BOLT and went online without a hitch

Well, thanks for all the suggestion guys. I really appreciate it. Most were academics oriented. Anyways I wanted you guys to share your routine too.

I do have goals in life etc etc.. but I was just trying to say that even with Goals, your daily routine just gets too much ...like yesterday.

Anyways to get my adrenaline pumping, I need to ride a bike or go do 4X4 on some mountains. Now thats an Andrenaline rush!!!

Yeah, but that only lasts about two weeks, then you are back into a routine.

That would need serious debugging, due to amount of useless code

Oh C'mon, you can always marry AGAIN,
Have kids and pets AGAIN.
If that also becomes a routine, you may dump that AGAIN, and go to a different country this time!!

Sometimes a boring job isn't a bad thing. Einstein quite liked his boring office job because it gave him time to think about his theories. Perhaps you could be the next Einstein.....
