Um, none.

This isn't actually meant to be anti-Vista, but I honestly don't know anyone who uses it, forced or otherwise. I could hit a number of people who use some Linux flavour with a sticky bun and a number of XP users, but no Vista

My employer has put Vista on my computer. Honestly, I don't notice a difference except for the snazzier UI that needs time getting used to.

Hey, I was content with NT as my dev environment, way back. It did what I wanted it to do, and the quirks could be worked around. I don't know why MS has to keep coming up with new OS. I don't really like being forced to get used to new UI. I would have been happier if MS had just fixed NT, and be done with it.

Ubuntu is a popular Linux distribution.

I'm with Bear on OS X.

(I know one person using Vista. When I asked how it was, he just shrugged and said, "It's okay.")

I recently got a new laptop and annoyingly I had little option but to buy one with Vista already installed on it. This was a pain because the first thing I did with it was to put Ubuntu onto it.

Annoyingly Microsoft have tied a lot of the larger computer suppliers into deals stopping them from supplying other or no operating systems. Perhaps it could be good for competition if computers were supplied with demo boot-discs of various operating systems so that users could try out some alternatives.

Dave: Its a interesting point and one of great debate. You should note that you ended up paying the license fees of Vista which was included in the Laptop price, even though you are not using it.

Many people have actually demanded refunds from companies and quite a few have managed to get one (I remember reading someplace about DEll refunds) You might want to look into that and ofcourse keep us informed

I bought new Toshiba laptop 2 months back with VISTA home premium edition. Without glossy and transparent GUI feature it is nothing more than win XP. I can seperately download IE7 and media player 11 which microsoft says as highlights of Vista Home edition. I really wonder why they have taken 5 years to develop it.

Dell is going to start offering Ubuntu on their machines. I think that's really cool, especially for users who might not dream of trying to install a different OS themselves. This could be an important move.

Dell is also starting to offer XP again, which I think is a bigger blow to MS then Dell offering a few models with Ubuntu installed.

I just bought HP laptop and got Vista home edition with it.

On my system (at least), there are lot of flickering effects if you switch between programes.
I mean its just another OS from MS.
I think till date, best OS came from MS company is XP Professional.

But one thing is there is Vista.. they made it so simple that anyone can use it... I think even my maid can use it and watch movie or listen song.

I will try Vista for another 2-3 months, if I become use to it then fine else I may move to XP Professional.
