whew! saved by the computer crash! i was really sweating a new attempt by this weekend... but now i have a couple days. just kidding, marylin! i hope you recover everything. the same thing happened to me back in november and i ended up replacing my CPU and motherboard. good luck!
And let me guess, since you're in the IT field you're very good at telling people to make sure to back ups, but like the rest of us in the IT field, you don't always follow your own good advice.
Right on the money, Ron. I'm going to go buy some CDs and back up my data before I turn off my computer again, just in case it won't start up again on the 30th try.

I back my stuff up onto RW CD's. The only problem is that when I use the RW on JM's game platform, its also our internet access pc. some files on the CD get corrupted !!! Frusrating because I use the RW to xfer stuff I've downloaded to the notebook !!!.

hmmmm... very interesting! actually, my problem was due to over-heating. i had the old Slot-A AMD Athlon 850Mhz processor and apparently they get too hot. now i have a 1.7Ghz and it is working just fine.
