Hello friend, it is been a long time since the last time I created a new topic in this SCJD sub forum.

I have something in my mind regarding the other Sun Java advanced certifications. Why they don't share the same style with SCJD ? I think the right way to assess our skill to develop an application (be it desktop, mobile phone, or enterprise) is the SCJD's style. I don't think by answering multiple-choice questions implies that we are a good developer. In SCJP, I think it's okay to assess someone's understanding in Java programming language by answering multiple-choice questions.

Do you have another opinion ?

I agree with you. By the way be careful, you should write assess and not asses which makes us think of something completely different. .

My theory on this is perhaps Sun wanted to pilot this new certification approach with SCJD and see how it plays out. Don't forget certification is a business and Sun also wants a reasonable profit from that activity. Maybe it turns out the SCJD approach is too costly for them to adopt at large for other certifications.

You have to think that they need to hire qualified human beings to correct the SCJD submissions which is not needed for multiple-choice exams. They also had to develop software to test the SCJD submissions and so forth.

Just my 2cents,
-Guillaume

I think the link has been removed by Sun. What kind of new certification that Sun will provide ?

Hi Jeffry,

You can find a very long thread about the new SCJP+ certification here.

Kind regards,
Roel

Roel, thanks for the link.

I hope that Sun will apply that "plus" certification to SCWCD and SCMAD because I don't have a good memorize skill.

Are today more than 500.000 peoples certified by Sun. Imagine a manual corrections? You do the exam today and receive your score in a few years! lolololol

I think it not works.

;)

I mean, when the new style of certification arrive, the older certificate holder can upgrade their certification. It is unlikely that all the 500.000 people will upgrade their certification a once.
