Dear Ranchers,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I am sorry if I was unable to express myself earlier, but as a matter of fact, while I was experimenting out with some code, I came across the problem, where instead of defining the constructor (of the superclass) as protected , I tried to use it from a subclass defined outside the package. And hence came across the compilation error. I tried with protected constructor, as defined, and was wondering whether my assumption was right or not.

Well thanks friends, I now got that fundamental cleared through your replies.
