can i run webservice without axis server

May i know if i use j2se 6.0 version, can i run the webservices without using any server like AXIS, in other words can I run the webservices program like I do simple helloworld program in java.

You don't need any particular SOAP server like Axis, but you do need some SOAP server. JSE 6 has a very simple built-in one (which I don't recommend you use, but it is possible).

(The code you posted will obviously not run since it's not a web service, but I'm sure you know that already.)

That would depend on what kind of service you want to offer and how hard you want to work.

The standard Java library has all you need for a SOAP, XML-RPC, or a RESTful service - REST would be so very much easier. SOAP can be very complex.

AXIS is a toolkit, not a complete server.
