Dang! A tragic loss.

We're unlikely to see many such insanely great innovators and visionaries.

RIP, Steve.

I knew the sudden resignation was a bad sign, despite the promise that he would stay on the board. I'm actually tearing up over this. What a brilliant designer we've lost today.

Such giants are not born often. We were fortunate enough to have lived in his times.

Something to think about...Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004. The 5-year survivor rate for pancreatic cancer is under 4%. My father survived 12 months after his diagnosis.

Steve did have a rarer, less aggressive form of the disease, with a 5-year survival rate of about 21% (in 1995) - still very low.

Please consider a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, at www.pancan.org.

Thanks

Very sad. I've never owned an Apple product till date but I definitely liked the products from Apple and the man behind all that is no more.

RIP Steve Jobs!

Although I am not a big Apple fan but when I read this news I was really sad I don't know why. I read some of his quotes and they were heavily inspirational. RIP Steve...

Ankit, I've never been a fan of Jobs, or Apple especially, but I also felt very sad in some inexplicable way.

He won't be replaced in our lifetime.

Amazing drive and vision. Plus, he was a pretty good businessman.

I am a great fat of Apple products and I am a proud owner of Apple IPod and Macbook Having been thinking to get hold of an IPhone !!!

Had always wondered about Steve Job's thoughts and his determination to be the BEST! Thank you very much for your excellent innovations to the world!!

Undoubtedly, I miss you very much Steve. I am sure you had lived a great life for which the entire world gives assurance.

I wish your soul to rest in peace and I pray to god for that.

People can read about Steve Jobs profile in apple website, which is quite interesting and inspiring. You can visit apple website for a page dedicated to Steve Jobs (the same image was posted in the top posts of this thread). If interested, you can share your thoughts to rememberingsteve@apple.com!

Should NOT the title be "Steve Jobs has passed away"?

Mark Reyes, your post was moved to a new topic. Mr. Ritchie deserves a topic of his own.

That depends on what dialect of English you speak. I'm probably generalising here but I think Americans tend to say 'passed' whilst the British say 'passed away'. Personally I say 'died'.

In my experience we in America would usually say "passed away" here too. I've occasionally heard "passed" without the "away" but it's not common, and I'm not sure what group or region (if any) might prefer this usage.

RIP Steve... One of the most special things I see in him is when he was forced out from the Apple (the company he founded) then he had the courage/skills/... to find something special as that of Next & Pixar and then come back again as the CEO, it's really special. Not many have done that (perhaps he is the only one). And it's a wonderful speech he gave in 2005 at Stanford University, so inspirational...

Steve Jobs should encourage us to innovate, and think into the future about what people want, what would increase the quality of life.

We all have the potential to be Steve Jobs and better, we need to find it within ourselves, and keep working on it, or as Steve Jobs said, "stay hungry, stay foolish"
