Hi guys,

In one of the presentations about a product (that is going to be developed) I read that the product will use source based tools & technologies.

The exact pointer was as below

* Leveraging open standards and source based tools & technology

Can you tell me what is the meaning of source based tools & technology refers here in the product creation.

Are you sure that the "Open" isn't meant to apply to "source" as well as "standards"? Admittedly, it's a clumsy construction.

Shouldn't you ask this the people who want you to implement it?

Tim you are right.... I missed that part of the presentation and while reading back the PPT I got this query.

I was just curious what it might mean...

* Leveraging open standards and open source based tools & technology

@ Mathew - I am appending the word open before source based tools - my understanding is that a technology that provides its source code to the users - such as Java, Linux... am I right?

Close enough. To be open source they need not only to provide the source code, but to freely give permission to anyone to use and/or change it as they see fit.
