Hi,

I'm working on a project where I need to deploy an EAR to Glassfish, which contains a Jar with EJB classes (annotated with @Stateless).

This is my setup:

1. services-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar: Contains implementations for my EJB interfaces, annotated with @Stateless
2. remote-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar: Contains interfaces for my EJB's, annotated with @Remote
3. my-ear.ear:

When I open it with my favorite zip tool, I see the following:

- ejb-api-3.0.jar
- services-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
- remote-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar

Then in META-INF:

application.xml

When I deploy this to GlassFish, It gives me the following exception:

Error occurred during deployment: Exception while deploying the app ear-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT] : Invalid ejb jar [services-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar]: it contains zero ejb. Note: 1. A valid ejb jar requires at least one session, entity (1.x/2.x style), or message-driven bean. 2. EJB3+ entity beans (@Entity) are POJOs and please package them as library jar. 3. If the jar file contains valid EJBs which are annotated with EJB component level annotations (@Stateless, @Stateful, @MessageDriven, @Singleton), please check server.log to see whether the annotations were processed properly.. Please see server.log for more details.

Anyone any ideas?

Well it does say

3. If the jar file contains valid EJBs which are annotated with EJB component level annotations .... please check server.log
to see whether the annotations were processed properly

Are there perhaps other error messages before the error message that you posted?

Well, I checked the logs, but I could not find any exceptions/messages related to any EJB/annotations errors....

Guess not. To be sure, here are the logs:

What is hm-backoffice-services-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar? It's the one being complained about now.
If it doesn't contain ejbs then it should go into the lib.

My apologies, that's the one, I stripped some naming just for clearity in my topic.

Well, it does contain a POJO which looks like this:

Which, in my opinion, is an EJB. The implemented interface is part of another jar.

That class looks like this:

It's located in another JAR, but it's available within the EAR.

Is it in the ear's lib? Have you verified it by checking the target folder contents?
Glassfish doesn't seem to be able to find it.

That's it! Placing the remote project in the lib directory did the trick. By adding this to the pom.xml maven-ear-plugin:

Resolved!
