Please, download the beta version of JForum 2.1.5 here:

http://www.jforum.net/tmp/jforum-2-1.5-180705.zip

Do the manual installation as described at http://www.jforum.net/install_no_wizard.jsp

Just want to add that we also seeing this error... oly seems to happen on the "Recent topics" page.

Note also that we cannot delete topics due to a boolean missing as a paramter from the delete fn?

Our system is running:
OS: Linux
Apache: 2.0.50 (using modJK 2.0.4)
MySQL: 4.1.8a
Tomcat: 5.5.9-1ep
JDK: 1.5.0

Does 2.1.5 have a substantially larger footprint than 2.1.4? What are all those jboss J2EE jars in the lib folder for?

I have downloaded 2.1.5 and receive the following error:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.jforum.drivers.mysql.DataAccessDriver
I have looked through the supplied classes and the drivers directory is completely missing.
Please advise, thanks.

I have set up 3 JForums 2.1.4 on 2 different SUN Microsystems servers and one OS X server, servlet container is on all Tomcat 5.0.28. On 2 of the installed JForums the 'Recent Topics' throws an error. The 2 problem installations have the JForum webapp in a different directory (context) than ROOT. So in a nutshell, catalina/webapps/ROOT installation works, any other webapp name doesn't. Might there be a request.getContextPath() be missing somewhere?

Had the same problem: there is an entry in custom-config that points to this class ... after deleting it it worked ... but i have very strange settings now, nearly every user is moderator of one forum and I cant create new forums, as they seam to be invisible for all users including admin ... any changes to the DB I should know? (tried to update from 2.1.4 to 2.1.5) ...

Greets,
Alex

I tried.

I even reset the corresponding tables in the DB ... it all worked fine for some time, but now whenever somebody posts something, the forum where the post was made starts to list all users in the admin-group AND Anonymous as Mods (there are no such permissions anywhere) and when trying to access such a forum after that I'm getting the java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException again ...

info: I manually updated from 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 and reset everything except for the DB (only roles and role_values there (see above) with the values of the create-script) and the custom-config ...

Its me again, Alex (sorry for the double post, should have registered earlier) ...

I just wanted to add, that after restarting Tomcat now again all forums have Anonymous listed as mod ... changing its permissions or the permission of the group doesn۪t change anything, as he is only listed there ... he doesn۪t have any real permission (I just tried) or sees the moderation-options, but he is listed and that seem to cause the InvocationTargetExceptions on my system :?

Any explanations for this weird behavior?

Thanks,
Alex

/edit: Ok, I just created a new forum and for this everything look fine ... no Anonymous as mod, and - until now - no InvocationTargetExceptions in this forum ... have there been any changes to whatever DB table holding this informations (by the way: I tried to find any link between the forums and die users in the DB ... i'm I right, that its role_values linking the roles with the forums (=role_values)?

Hi!

Additional information: the InvocationTargetException still persists although the problem that Anonymous is listed as a mod is solved. I checked where the error has its origin and it looks like (at least with my problem) its line 144 in TopicsCommon.java throwing a null-pointer-exception ... the real weird thing is, that this error appears randomly (restarting the webapp its gone and comes back after some hours, no matter how much or if there is any activity) ... and its always another post causing it and its always only one within a single forum (surrounding it with a try catch all topics before and after the one are shown) ... restarting the webapps its gone again ... without understanding the internal flow of the program (and the objects hold in the memory) I don۪t see any chance for me solving this, as I don۪t find any reasons why sometimes (without any special reason or event) a null-reference appears in the post-listing and then again disappear after rebooting although the data remains exactly the same ...

Any ideas?

Greets,
Alex

Damn, that's tricky. Please check if your line 144 is

If so, the bug much probably is due a failure to correctly add a valid entry to the cache - but this was suposed to be fixed in 2.1.5.

Yes, it is.

Strange ... I only took parts of the database from 2.1.4, all classes are 100% 2.1.5 ...

This is the exact error I get when I edit a post and then submit the edit the forum assicated with it always produces this error trying to get the topics..... tomcat must be restarts to fix the associated forum

I dsiabled the cache and now it works.

There must be some cache errors.

I printed the topics list and the offend obect t
had the right name but the t.getLastPostTimeInMillis() Date object was null doing a check for null and letting it pass only caused other goofyness later.

How bad do I need cache?
